The Purpose and Goals of Parent Training: In response to TCRC’s initiative to provide group parent training in ABA to help prepare families for in-home ABA services CAUSE provides group Parent Education in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The parent education curriculum utilizes a combination of lectures, handouts, video and in-vivo demonstrations, question and answer sessions, homework assignments, application of Person Centered Thinking tools and activities, in addition to offering access to online courses for e-learning opportunities.

Topics and training modules are organized into three content areas which include: (1) an Overview of Developmental Disabilities, (2) ABA and Best Practices, and (3) The Role of the Family in ABA Services. Collectively the curriculum is designed to assist families in obtaining the support, knowledge, and skills necessary to sustain the impact of raising a child with special needs as well as effectively serve as interventionist and advocate for their child.
